Once again we’ve brought the best and brightest of Shanghai’s wining and dining scene under one roof to celebrate our 8th Annual Food & Drink Awards.

Eight years already? We can’t believe it either. If you subscribe to the local numerology this has to have been the luckiest Food & Drink Awards in That’s Shanghai history. But with all the garters, tassles and teasery on Chinatown’s stage we’re pretty sure most in attendance were thinking more about getting lucky than being lucky. So, without further ado, this year’s winners...

Now that my good sir was a party. It's the biggest Food & Drink Awards we've ever had. And I still haven't recovered yet and it was over a week ago. Well the winners are out there in all the glossy glory of the magazine and right here on line. You'll start to see a few drunk faces in there, a few familiar faces and a few randoms... What would a party be without randoms hey. No Jon Benn in there though, but what the hell...

It was a wild wild night. M1nt went crazy. Nearly a thousand people packed the place. And everyone went nuts. You've got a love a party like that.

It’s nothing but a piece of yellow paper held in a picture frame behind a thin pane of glass. It shouldn’t be that big of a deal, really. But it is! It wasn’t really until this year that I fully realized this fact. I monitored the polls every day and even I was surprised at how exciting it became at times. Some of the battles were incredibly close. Some only won by a number of votes I could count on four fingers. For others, it was a grudge match. They’d be miles ahead one day, only to be overtaken by their main competitor the next, and then recover again the following day.

So the Awards are out there. Head out in Shanghai this weekend and you'll see a bunch of bars and restaurants with plaques on their walls showing off just how cool they are. And cool they are indeed. Because you voted for them. You can't get much better recognition than coming from the words of the people who eat at your restaurant, the paying customers. If they vote you as the best place in town, then surely that counts.
