The craving for a good Sunday roast is hard to satisfy in Shanghai, and a succulent, mouth wateringly good chicken not only hard to find, but nigh-impossible to cook yourself (any prior culinary skills now redundant and therefore woefully deteriorating). Sunday morning fumblings with your rarely-used oven (if, in fact you even have one) are something never to contemplate again as Brasa Chicken has given us something major to squawk about. Tender and delicious, their birds are marinated for 24 hours and then slowly cooked over a bed of hardwood charcoals. Golden and crisp on the outside, juicy as anything on the inside, with a range of scrummy sauces to compliment – it doesn’t get much better. Screw Sunday. Order it every day. A whole Peruvian rotisserie-style chicken can be gobbled up for a mere RMB88. RMB228 will get you the office (or dinner party) combo with a heap of sides.

I tried this place in person before ordering for a small house party. The restaurant itself is a bit hard to find as it is not street fronting. Once you get to 888 Sha'anxi South Rd, you only see the Somerset. You have to walk inside the complex about a 100m to get to the restaurant itself. It is well worth the effort as the chicken is indeed as soft and juicy as advertised. Having taste-tested the food, I then proceeded to order Brasa for a small house party and neither my guests nor I were disappointed. Even though the delivery was quite far away, the food arrived warm and fresh. The garlic fries were particularly popular. Definitely be ordering again!
