The Best of Shanghai weekend is about to hit Shanghai on June 6/7 with a shed load of music, entertainment, fashion shows, beer, a car made from a pair of jeans, a tad more beer and a partridge in a pear tree. Oh yeah, and the winners of the Best of Shanghai voting - as voted for by you the readers of Urbanatomy.com and That's Shanghai, will also be on hand to pick up the awards... Check out all the winners right here... Over the next few days the lineups of the stages will be tweaked and changed with live acts and a bunch of shows are to be on hand. These include the likes of Candy Shop, a whole afternoon from JZ School and Dai Liang. And now confirmed, local band Fore Play. Here's the official spiel below: The Best of Shanghai weekend is a celebration of what That’s Shanghai magazine, the largest English-language magazine in China, and its readers love about Shanghai. Over the last few months, readers of That’s Shanghai and Urbanatomy.com have been choosing their favorite bands, their favorite hotel, who they think their Shanghai hero is, the coolest shops, the most creative gallery, the best Web site and much more. With over 2,700 votes cast as of May 10, the competition has been fierce across 28 categories, all celebrating the best of what Shanghai has to offer in terms of lifestyle and the arts. On June 6 and 7, the pedestrian area by Sogo at Jing’an Temple will be transformed into a entertainment area for everyone to enjoy with international brands such as General Motors, Coca-cola, Hofbrau, Weightwatchers, Bols plus many more. General Motors will be showcasing the new Chevrolet Cruze and the Levi’s special edition designed Lova. Alongside these big flagship brands you can discover a series of community and charity groups in Shanghai letting you know how to get involved. Shanghai-born lifestyle and fashion brands will also be on hand to show you the best of the creative industry, plus food and drink outlets and various prize draws and competitions over the weekend. The main action is up on the stage where on Saturday JZ School will be providing a series of Jazz artists from 4pm, while Sunday afternoon at the same time will see a collection of local bands perform live. Throughout both days there will be brand showcases, fashion shows, kong fu performances and even the official ‘weigh-in’ for the big charity boxing match The Sheraton Showdown the following week. Details on all the performers and times will be circulated in the coming few days. The Saturday night will see the official awards ceremony for the Best of Shanghai awards that are all on show in the cover story of That’s Shanghai magazine’s June issue. A VIP area will take over parts of the roof of the building giving special guests, winners and clients an opportunity to relax and enjoy food and drinks throughout the two days.
