Monday, 25 January 2010 07:01 Written by Ned Kelly Calling all cobbers, convicts, kookaburras, kangaroos, dingoes, drongoes, Bruces and Sheilas, for tomorrow, January 26, is Australia Day, set aside as a national holiday Down Under to commemorate the arrival of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove in 1788, the hoisting of the British flag there, and the proclamation of British sovereignty over the eastern seaboard of Australia. So where will the Aussies being playing two up and draining stubbies in Shanghai? Over at Kakadu they are celebrating with that most Aussie of institutions, the barbie. Starting from 6pm, RMB120 will get you a full feed and then some more, while there are drinks deals aplenty, with Aussie beers from RMB15 and wines and bubbly from RMB20. Wear Aussie colors (gold and green) and they’ll even give you your first drink for free. The Kommune Cafe meanwhile are going all classy with chicken Parmesan and red wine night. RMB200 gets you as much nosh as you can get down you, including a salad buffet on the side, not to mention Australian Pepper Tree wine. Glug for Oz over there then. It would seem The Beaver enjoys a warm relationship with the Koala with a "Buy one get one free" three-hour long Happy Hour from 6pm-9pm followed by "Two Dollar Tuesday" with house drinks RMB15 from 9-11pm and all Aussie beers also RMB15. Anyone know of any other Australia Day parties? Let us know in the comments below.
