Wednesday, 17 March 2010 02:03 Written by Urbanatomy The new terminal at Hongqiao Airport opened Tuesday. And all you have to do is find it: Thousands of passengers went to the wrong gates yesterday, Shanghai Daily reported. The new terminal building is 15 minutes away via shuttle bus from the old one. About eight percent of passengers missed their flights (usually only one percent do). Ah, as if flying weren't awful enough. Last year the airport handled 25 million passengers. The 15.3 billion RMB ($2.2 Billion USD) expansion will raise the airport's capacity to 40 million. And with direction connections to railway and subway systems, daily capacity will be 1.1 million, government officials said (according to Business Week).
