Less than one hour outside Shanghai, the new Crowne Plaza Suzhou offers space-age looks (it could almost be mistaken for an airport terminal), but its scenic setting next to the Jinji Lake softens the edges. The size does make for spacious and modern interiors, with views of the lake and gardens from every room. The hotel’s situation in the industrial park, combined with features such as a private marina, seven restaurants and a dedicated ‘Meeting Success’ service, also suggest that businessmen in particular will be well catered for. // www.crowneplaza.cn
