If the success of an event can be judged on whether a fan is inspired enough to take off all their clothes and run across the field of play – and, let’s face it, it really should be – then the inaugural Shanghai Rugby Sevens in 2009 was given the stark-naked seal of approval (go here if you don’t believe us). Good news then, as September will see the Shanghai Rugby Football Club host the second installment.

CCTV side to take on Dream Team

What is it with reality TV this month? Not to be outdone by that little upstart ICS, the big boys over at CCTV5 have devised a show of their own. Over the last few months thousands of wannabe b-ballers across the nation have been given their all on the court in the hope of being selected for the China Streetball All-Stars, who will be taking on their American counterparts in three exhibition games to be held in arenas in Beijing, Wuhan and – yes, yes y’all – Shanghai. And the whole process is being filmed for an eight-episode how-they-got-there series entitled Shemgod that begins airing in September. What we’re looking at is China Idol meets Hoop Dreams. Whoop! Whoop!

I'm not sure whether it was the massage or the knowledge of the finish line being so close but my cycling had definitely improved.

I woke up early to catch the sun coming up, so I cycled for the first 20 minutes in the dark.
