The Molinaris closed with a 4-under 68 in the alternate-shot final round on Mission Hills' Olazabal Course. They finished at 29 under and earned $875,000 each in the tournament that featured two rounds of better ball and two of alternate shot. That remarkable effort that included 12 birdies and an eagle saw Team Ireland soar into a three-stroke lead over Argentina, with Japan a further stroke back at 10 under. Italy, Canada, Korea and defending champions Sweden share fourth place after opening scores of 64, while host nation China produced a 65 to share eighth place with South Africa.
