After a cracking season, we can announce that this year's Shanghai Bei champions are the Zhude Monks, having beaten the Hermit Crabs 23-10 in a very exciting and evenly matched fixture last Saturday. Hangzhou are leading the fair play trophy so far, boasting a squeaky clean record with no cards of any color. A couple of matches are still to be played, but no results can knock the Monks or Crabs of their leading spots. So, the table with just two matches left to play…

Wednesday, 25 November 2009 10:11 Written by Cordelia O'Hare Last weekend saw only one of the scheduled matches take place as Hangzhou were suffering too many injuries and SUS had exams (that suck’s, man). The match that did go ahead was a cracker though - the Monks trounced Nantong on their own turf. This means they snatch the top spot on the table from the reluctant claws of the Hermit Crabs as they creep ahead on number of tries. The points as they stand as follows:

Struggling to field a full team, sterling work by Matt Froman and Norman Green in the bars of Shanghai on Friday night found some new faces to bring the team to 14 people.

They also enjoy hosting foreign clubs and national teams. Back in 2006 they enjoyed the company of some ancient French Tahitians, a group of youthful Canadians and a team of grey haired Kiwis. Unlike their eight legged namesakes, they endeavour not to be (b)eaten, and succeed most of the time, winning the Yellow Sea Cup last year. |
