Un-boo!-lievable Outfits

Don’t leave it to the last minute this year to get ready for the big night. There’s nothing worse than someone turning up to a party in a bed sheet masquerading as a poorly wrapped toga. Or as “a prostitute” (but weren’t you wearing that last weekend?) or “Uh, one of the guys from Reservoir Dogs”. Unacceptable. If you’re not a DIY fan, hit up one of these excellent costume places and find the zombie, superhero or monster creation of your dreams.

The Holiday House
You’ll find this place overflowing with fake blood, teeth, masks and brooms during the next month. Banners, garlands, lights and other decorations also cover the floor and ceiling, making this a great find for those of you hosting Halloween parties this year. Halloween costumes for kids are RMB45-100, and adults (one size fits all) are RMB100-140. Why not pick up a nice plastic bum while you’re there too? Never know when it might come in handy…

Ruby’s Party Place
This place is more geared to kids than adults, stocking super-cute little frog or monkey outfits. It’s a great place to check out the selection of Halloween paraphernalia, which includes itching and sneezing powder at just RMB3 each –  we’ll be goblin’ ‘em up! We also loved the bouncing eyeballs, scar patches and glow-in-the-dark fingers, all perfect for scaring the wits out of younger siblings. Cue thunderclap and echo-y laughter.

Crazy Frog
For RMB100-150, Crazy Frog will provide you with everything from priest to wildcat outfits in both adult and kiddie sizes. And since it’s the only night of the year you can get away with acting like a kid, take advantage of the spooktacular selection of toys such as finger-attachable lasers and projectile swords.

Where to wear these awesome outfits? Your number one choice has to be that’s Shanghai’s Heaven & Hell Halloween bash at Lan on October 31st.
Entrance is RMB100 (in advance) / RMB 150 (on the night) for free flow between 9 and 12:30. Tickets are available from This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , call 021 6212 6497.
